Our Appa Chatty is made using a traditional Kansa Bronze composition of approximately 78% Copper and 22% Tin. Since copper and tin have different melting temperatures, a small variation in the final proportion can naturally occur during the melting and casting process. The final composition may therefore vary slightly, generally within approximately ±2% in proportion, depending on the manufacturing process.

We do not add lead, zinc, cadmium, nickel or other harmful heavy metals to our bronze products. Our products are laboratory tested for purity to ensure that harmful heavy-metal contamination is not present.

It is important to understand that even a small amount of unwanted lead contamination in cookware is undesirable. Therefore, rather than choosing a bronze utensil only by appearance or price, always consider the composition and purity of the metal.

Many people are also unaware that bronze utensils can be tested at professional gold testing centres / hallmark testing centres. Such testing can be done at a relatively low cost, often below ₹100 depending on the centre and test.
